The HSGC Curriculum
All students are enrolled in challenging, Regents-level, academic courses that prepare them to take and pass all state-mandated Regents examinations, as well as to meet the requirements for admission to competitive colleges.

Grade 9
Political and Economic Participation, Introduction to Literature, Global Science, Math A, Physical Education, and Global Citizenship Seminar.

Grade 10
United States History and Government*, American Literature*, Living Environment, Math A & Math B, Foreign Language - Spanish, Physical Education, Global Citizenship Seminar, and elective courses.

Grade 11
Global History and Geography*, World Literature*, Chemistry* or Environmental Science, Math B, Foreign Languages, Physical Education, Art, and elective courses.

Grade 12
Elective and Advanced Placement courses in Social Studies, Elective courses in literature and writing, Physics* and/or Earth Science, Pre-Calculus or Advanced Placement Calculus, Foreign Languages, and Physical Education.

* Honors Level course in this subject is offered.

Every Year
  • Innovative and unique core learning experiences, such as: Bridge Program & Retreat for grade nine students; School-wide Conference for grade ten students; International Travel for grade eleven students; and Internships for grade twelve students.
  • Advisory Program in which groups of 15-20 students meet with a staff advisor to discuss academic, social, and personal topics and issues.
